Edna Mabel Smith
1950-2019
Smith, Edna Mabel, 68, of Heatherton, Antigonish County, and
formerly of Port Hood passed away on February 12, 2019, in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Robert and
Charity (Dort) Spears.
Edna enjoyed Knitting, fishing, a good feed of lobster,
traveling, and gardening.
She is survived by her son, Greg, Heatherton; daughter, Tracy
(Gerald) Batherson, Middle Sackville; grandchildren, Lila and Brianne;
partner, Louis Knowles, Heatherton; brothers, Edgar (Sadie), Lloyd
(Diane), and Cecil (Helen), all of Port Hood, sister Anna Hodgson,
North Sydney, and Ruby (Robert) MacMillan, Inverness; and many nieces
and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, Charles; daughter, Glenda; and
siblings, Harriett Morash, Donald, and Gary.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in
St. Stephen’s Church Hall, Port Hood. Funeral
service will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in St. Stephen’s-Jubilee
United Church, Pastor Margaret Ann Plant presiding. Burial
in Union Cemetery in the spring.
