Peacefully welcomed into the loving presence of her much-loved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Darlene Anne Murray, a resident of Tillsonburg, in her 63rd year. Darlene was a former dedicated cosmetologist and welcoming people-person at the Whitmore Pharmacy, at Big V, and later at Shoppers Drug Mart, all in Tillsonburg, retiring in 2006 after thirty-one years of dedicated service. Darlene was very much a Christian person and was very active at the First Baptist Church, Tillsonburg, working with Alpha ministry, the First Baptist Church choir, and ministering through her service as a Sunday School Teacher. Darlene was a founding member and Box Office Manager at Theatre Tillsonburg for over thirty-one years. Darlene was involved in close to one hundred shows/events by singing, acting, and other capacities.
Darlene is a much-loved daughter of Wilma (Langfield) Pettit of Tillsonburg and the late Donald Murray (2000). Also predeceased by a step-father Gerald Pettit (1973). Survived by a brother Keith Murray (Diana) of Delhi and their children: Aaron (Melissa), Sarah (Cody), Drew (Melinda), and Mark; a sister Christine Gillies of Calgary and her children: Ashley and Michael; and a brother Jeffery Murray of Tillsonburg and his son Gerry. Predeceased by a sister Pamela Davis (2019). Pam is survived by a son Jared Dalton and his partner Matthew. Darlene is also predeceased by two infant sisters: Susan Murray and Cynthia Murray.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives will be welcomed and received on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES-BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg (519)842-4238. Funeral Service to celebrate Darlene’s life on Monday, March 4th, 2019 at 11 am in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel, by Rev. Carl Walters. Interment to follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Darlene’s memory are payable by cheque or online to the “First Baptist Church” or “Theatre Tillsonburg” or “World Vision” or a charity of your choice.
