Ramsey, Catharine (née Doyon), Jan 19, 1939 – Jan 20, 2019
Died Sunday, January 20, with her four children present, at her home in Port Hope. Catharine was predeceased by her husband, Dean Ramsey, and son-in-law Frank Jolicoeur, and is survived by her brother Ron Doyon (Cathy), and sisters Evelyn Lawless and Susan Campbell. Catharine was a devoted mother to her four children, Ron Jubenville (Janet Holden), Marg Macfarlane (Doug), Russ Jubenville (Pam), and Beth Jolicoeur, loving grandmother to Michelle Venne (Marc), Greg Jubenville (Jessika), Scott Jubenville, Jenn Macfarlane (Brandon Livingston), and Graham and Evan Jolicoeur (Lauren Hudson). She was also a proud great grandmother to Olivia and Addison Venne, and Jenna Jubenville. She will also be lovingly remembered by extended family members, and many friends.
Catharine enjoyed a long career as an Executive Assistant at General Motors of Canada. While working for GM, she obtained a degree in sociology at the University of Toronto, graduating with distinction.
Catharine was a generous supporter and participant in numerous charitable and community-minded organizations. Her volunteer work over the years included being a member of the board for the Whitby Library, volunteering for the Red Cross, and driving for Port Hope Community Care. Catharine was co-founder of the Canadian Retinoblastoma Society, was on the board of the Port Hope United Church, was a member of the United Church Women’s group and the Canadian Federation of University Women, and was a long-serving member of PROBUS.
Catharine’s life will be celebrated at a brief service at Ross Funeral Chapel in Port Hope, on Saturday, January 26 at 1:00, immediately after which the family will welcome visitors to Catharine’s beloved home at 33 South St., Port Hope.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Catharine Ramsey Memorial Fund at the Canadian Retinoblastoma Society.
