BAYERLE, Karen Anne (nee Henderson)
January 13, 1955 – February 11, 2019
Karen was a true born-and-raised Calgarian. She loved the mountains and all activities you could do in them. She was an avid hiker, biker, skier, and wine lover.
For the last 6 years Karen spent most of her time with Bruce Shultz and his family – Meagan and David ( Amelia & Harrison), (Candice and Kate), (Adam & Brian) in Fernie, B.C as well as Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Travel was her passion and she was able to visit many parts of the world throughout her life and especially in her retirement.
Karen suffered a stroke in July of 2018 and, while she did her best to the positives in life, this was a radical adjustment for her to make. She died suddenly of a heart failure at the Halvar Jonson facility in Ponoka where she was doing extensive rehabilitation in the hopes of rejoining her family and friends and being as independent as possible.
She is survived by her father Jack and her sister Deborah. No funeral is planned, at Karen’s request, but there will be a celebration of Karen’s life in the spring. You are welcome to make a charitable donation to the Heart and Stroke foundation in memory of Karen at www.heartandstroke.ca
Arrangements entrusted to Cochrane Country Funeral Home, Lawrence (Larry) Slywka, Funeral Director Phone 403-932-1039.
