DALEY, Ansel George “Morris”
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ansel George “Morris” Daley at the age of 85. Morris is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pearl. Loving father of Yvonne, Howard, Shiron and Peter. Father-in-law of Derrick Palmer. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Marlon (Carmela) Palmer, Richardo, Shauna, Latoya, Diriki (Beira) Palmer, Amelia and Andrew. Cherished by his 11 great-grandchildren. Morris is predeceased by his mother, Violet Virgo, and brothers Elleston, Winston (Mildred), Wesley and sister Vinell. Survived by brother Herbert, Roy and sister-in-law Edris. Morris will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends in Jamaica, USA and Canada. Morris was born in St. James, Jamaica.
He immigrated to England in the late 50’s where his brother Winston Wallace introduced him to the love of his life, Pearl. Together they started a family together in England and in 1968 they moved to Canada. Morris was a crane operator by trade. He later went on to become the of the first Afro-Canadian entrepreneurs in Hamilton, opening three “Daley Variety” stores for over ten years. He later retired from Dare Cookies. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He recently enjoyed spending time in the Florida sun with his son Peter, his wife Pearl and his niece Jennifer and her family. Morris was always smiling, and his eyes always lit up whenever the kids were around. Morris was an Elder at Open Door Apostolic Church living his life by the scriptures and praying regularly.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital at the Idlewyld Manor Nursing Home. A special thank-you to Dr. Azzaham and Team.
Family and friends are welcomed to Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – « William J. Markey Chapel », 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday February 8, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle, 1355 Upper Wellington St. on Saturday February 9, 2019 at 9:30 am. Burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton. Following the cemetery, all are welcomed to a Celebration of Morris’ Life at Marquis Gardens on Rymal Road at 2:00 pm.
