Obituary for Rose Louise Lepage (Calendino)
Rose Lepage (Rosina) (nee Calendino):
It is with great sorrow that the family announces Rose’s passing on January 2nd, 2019 at 94 years of age at Pioneer Manor. Rose is now joyfully reunited with the love of her life, her husband Dennis (Red) with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Rose leaves behind her cherished family, Brian and Sue, grandchildren, Lori, Jon (Karla), Michael (Juanita), and three beautiful great-grandchildren Madison, Dylan and Joshua. Rose is also survived by her sister-in-law Maizie Hawthorne (Renfrew), brothers-in-law Donald (Jean predeceased) (Kitchener) and Maurice Lepage (Jean) (Brandon) and will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and family friends.
Born in Coniston to Joseph and Mae Calendino (Rannelli), Rose is now able to reconnect with her five siblings as she has missed them dearly over the years: Tony, Dottie, Anna, Maggie and Louis. As a young girl, it didn’t take long for Rose to soon learn the secrets of Italian cooking from her father. She was a great cook. She further understood hardship as her family struggled through the difficult and meagre times of World War II. Indeed she married the love of her life, Dennis, known as Red, immediately upon his return from service in 1946. Over the years, Rose was a long-time volunteer at the Sudbury Red Cross and was recognized for her service.
Rose lived a long and good life, and was completely devoted to her family. She never complained, always offered a pleasant smile to everyone, demonstrated a quick wit and was ready to go when asked to join residents at the Sunday concerts. Staff at Pioneer bonded with her and she made many new friends- her spa buddy, Joanne, her morning caregiver Antonella and many others, whose names are too many to mention. She was very appreciative of for the kindness given her by all of her dedicated and compassionate caregivers at Pioneer Manor. As she often told us, this was her home and everyone was so good to her. For that, we wish to extend a special thank you to all of the caring nurses and staff on the 2nd Fl. Onwatin Lake Lodge and Dr. Moe St. Martin for his support.
Funeral Prayers in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at 12:30pm. Friends may call after 10:30am Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society (Sudbury-Manitoulin) would be appreciated.
