Obituary of Rose Delima Weissent
WEISSENT, Rose Delima 97 of Halifax, formerly of Little Anse
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Delima Weissent, also known to many as Lena, of Halifax formerly of Little Anse, at home, on January 17th, 2019. Born in Little Anse, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Josephine (Boudreau) Samson. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Weissent, Halifax, Donna (Kevin) Olsen, Middle Sackville; grandchildren Cameron Olsen, Zachary Weissent (Andrea); great grandson Gavin; brother Rudolph (Virginia) Samson, Louisdale; sisters Betty Tandy, Dartmouth and Dorothy Morrison, Arichat; sisters-in-law Liz Samson, Petit de Grat, Denise Samson, Guelph Ontario, Margaret Samson, Cape Auget, and many nieces and nephews. Delima is also predeceased by brothers, Henry Samson, Oswald Samson, William Samson, Lawrence Samson, George Samson; and sisters Alma Boudreau, Lorraine Forster and Bernadette Clannon.
Lena married her soul mate Harold Weissent, in June of 1941, and the two lived devoted to each other for 55 years until separated by his passing in 1996.
She will always be remembered for her spunk and determination as well as her kind, caring and giving nature. She was a hard worker and modelled her strong work ethic for her daughters. She always said that despite having many jobs and owning and operating her own business, she was most proud of her work as a nurse’s aid in the children’s ward, at the hospital in Guelph, Ontario.
Lena, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, which usually included playing board games, bingo and of course a good game of cards. She was known to spend many hours knitting, watching her favourite soap operas and made-for-tv movies. However, her grandsons were the lights of her life and she enjoyed her time spent playing with them and watching them grow into fine young men.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care Facility in Halifax, where she lived for the last 4 and a half years. Their genuine care, compassion and support have been indispensable. They were true blessings in our lives.
At her request, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will take place Thursday January 24th, in St. Joseph’s Church, Petit de Grat at 11am, with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will take place in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat at a later date. A reception will follow the mass in St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, Petit de Grat. Memorial donations may be made to continuing care facilities such as Arborstone Enhanced Care Facility in Halifax, St. Anne Centre in Arichat, or to a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. To send words of comfort to the family or to light a candle in memory of Delima, please visit www.chboudreau.com
