Lawrence Sargant
February 11, 1924 – January 29, 2019
SARGANT, Lawrence Stanley
Peacefully after a brief illness, with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019, in his 95th year. Gone to be with his beloved wife of 64 years Lillian. Loving father of Debra and Bob, David and Susan. Cherished grandfather of Julie and Dan, Rebecca, Michelle and Tim, Lawrence and Julia. Beloved great grandfather of Lillian, Eric, Lorelei, Emma and Hailey. Dear brother of Russell and his wife Audrey. Former Owner of Sargant’s Texaco Garage, at Park and Gibb. Proudly served in the RCAF in Canada during WWII, achieving the rank of Pilot Office and his Air Gunner Wings. He was the runner-up of the 1948 Webster Trophy flying competition in Calgary, winning the Sanderson Shield. Original member of the Oshawa Flying Club. He was a proud supporter of the Canadian Red Cross, making over 125 blood donations throughout his years. Known as Mr. Happy Face for those who drove past or flew over his Raglan property. Many thanks to Dr. Boulos and the Lakeridge Health Oshawa staff for their care. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
