It is with heavy hearts & deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josip Hren. He left this world peacefully at the age of 91.
Josip will be sadly missed by his brother Lovro, daughters Marica, Silvia (Tony), & Annie (Tim), Grandchildren Daniel (Christine), Ryan (Nicole), Kareem, Haleel, Norah (Travis), Great-grandchildren Mikiaya, Liam, Blake & (Of course) K.C. (His cat). Also left to mourn, are his extended family in Canada, Croatia and Switzerland.
Josip was predeceased by his parents Mijo and Barbara, his loving wife of 68 years Katica, brother Miha, sister Kata Furjanic, sisters-in-law Jana Hren and Marija Ferko, brother-in-law Josip Ferko & son- in- law Salaheddine Hidara.
Josip was born and raised in Obrez, Croatia. He left Croatia in 1958 to start a new life for his family in Canada. He worked numerous jobs until his retirement in 1992.
He was always very handy and willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it was gardening, plumbing, building structures, fences or shoveling snow, you could always count on him.
His passions were tending to his garden & fruit trees and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. They always put a smile on his face.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff at Seven Oaks hospital for Josip’s end of life care.
A service to celebrate Josip’s life will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 2:00PM at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Father Dominic Yuen presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Josip’s memory may be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
