John P. Broesky, age 86 of Grunthal, MB, went to his heavenly home late Saturday night, January 19, 2019, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
Dad was born on May 27, 1932 to John & Anna Broesky. He married the love of his life, Edna Pries, on September 22, 1956. They were blessed with five children; one daughter and four sons. Dad loved to work, and he worked hard. He started his own business Thunderbolt Construction and later he started his septic business J&E Septic. They started their life together in Winnipeg in 1956 and moved to Grunthal in 1977. Dad had a good work ethic and gave his all in everything he did. He loved the Lord and loved worshiping together with his church family every Sunday. Mom & Dad spent many years together camping, fishing and travelling with family and friends. He loved his garden and spent hours outside making the yard beautiful. When you went to their house, he was usually outside picking up acorns or branches from the lawn or driveway. He was very particular with how the yard looked. It had to be perfect. He insisted on doing everything himself, including shoveling snow off the roof. He didn’t want to bother his sons because he said they had their own things to do. Dad was seldom seen without a toothpick in his mouth and would make it disappear in his mouth if you tried to take it from him. Dad loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and looked forward to family gatherings where we were all together. Dad was a great example of what it meant to be a man of God and prayed for his family every day, wanting them all to be saved.
Dad is survived by his wife Edna; his sons: Jeff (Lenora), Randy (Annette), Barry (Cindy), Corey (Evelyn), son-in-law Bob (Carol) Friesen, his 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, one brother, three sisters and one daughter Barb.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the hospital for the love and care they gave to Dad in his short stay there and for all the family and friends who came by to see him, and for all the prayers and love shown to our family during this time. It was very much appreciated.
The evening service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinbach Christian Mennonite Church, Steinbach, MB. Interment will take place at Mitchell Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mitchell, MB.
