Obituary of Jean McGowan
Jean Stella (Crossman-Seaman) McGowan passed away peacefully at the Killam Health Care Centre on January 1, 2019 at the age of 78 years.
Jean was born at Head of Amherst, Nova Scotia, the second youngest of a family of seven, to the late Harper Lewis Crossman and the late Mary Louise (Cove) Crossman on the 18th day of May, 1940.
Jean is survived by one sister, June Shipley of Hamilton, Ont.; two sons, Harvey Seaman; James (Jamie) McGowan; daughter, Cheryle Carrington; grandchildren, Jaa Carrington, Jodee (Travis) Pettem, Tristan Potter, Thomas Seaman, Alicia Seaman, Sylvan Curie, Arkham McGowan; Great- Grandchildren, Braelan, Violet Carrington, Zenna, Zadee Pettem; extended family, Arlene (Dale) Cromarty; Shirley Thompson; the late Gary (Joanne) McGowan; Gail Delange; Joy (Terry) Elson; Sandy (McGowan) Brost; many step-grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Harper and Mary Crossman; husband, James Lloyd McGowan; three sisters, Hilda Crossman, Marjorie (Crossman- Miller), Muriel (Bill) Schubert; two brothers, Donald, Arnold; five nieces, Nancy Mae, Stacey, Sharon, Marlene, Kimberly; four Brothers-in-law, Curtis, Ralston, Roland, John, many aunts and uncles.
Family and friends were very precious to Jean and a big hug said more to her than a thousand words!
At Jean’s request there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and an optional family memorial will be held at a later date.
