George Mansfield Fisher of Saint John, passed away peacefully at the Loch
Lomond Villa, with his wife and family at his side on January 10, 2019. Born October 6, 1936 in Saint
John, he was the son of David Mansfield Fisher & M. Celina (Robichaud). George is survived by his loving
wife Yvonne (Doiron) of Saint John; son Daniel Thomas Fisher (Georgia) of Saint John and Paul Rigby
(Nini) of London, ON and his daughter Debbie M. Simpson (Ronald) of London, ON; grandchildren
Damion, Brandy, Daniel, Christopher, Ashley and Adam; brother David Fisher (Carolyn) of BC;
sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, George was
predeceased by his brothers Wayne and Brian (Sharon).
George worked for East Saint John Hospital as well as Centrecare in Environmental Services, and retired
in 1992. He was a member of the Historical Society, had an interest in archeology and historical artifacts
especially Fort La Tour. In his younger years he loved to cook soups, go for long drives, fish, scuba dive
and was a jokester. He was nominated ‘Inspector of Timber’ within the City of Saint John on July 12,
1999.
The family would like to thank the workers of the Loch Lomond Villa for their care and compassion
during George’s time at the Villa.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).
Visitation will be held on May 25, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. Private family interment to be held at Fernhill
Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in George’s memory can be made to the Parkinson’s Society, Loch Lomond
