Obituary of Dorothy Emily Moores
Dorothy Emily Moores (1924-2019) – Peacefully and serenely on January 12, 2019 with family members at her side at Carbonear General Hospital. Devoted daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth Moores and loving sister to Carl (Shirley). She was predeceased by her siblings, Jack (Mildred), Alec (Maysie), Ruth (Eric), and Bert (Gloria). She was a dear aunt Dot to Judy (dec), John, Barbara, Dallas, Douglas, David, Darroch, Alexis (dec), Graham, Kim, Elizabeth, Kathy, Carl, Ian, and Keith. She was born in Blackhead, Conception Bay, and was a Scholarship student in her school work and studies. From her early days, she was a very independent woman, she was traditional in non traditional ways. It wasn’t easy for a woman of her time to have a career, however, she did so and worked for over forty (40) years with the Bank of Montreal in various capacities. She was a person who loved to read, she probably had every issue of “Life Magazine”. Her interests ranged from music, to fashion, and to politics. She loved to engage her family and friends with her views on a wide range of subject matters. She was not reticent in offering her opinion and surely was not a “flower born to blush unseen”. Her family was also very important to her. She was devoted to her parents, she lived with and cared for them throughout their lives. Her brothers, sister, nieces and nephews, and their families were always her concern, and she continued to keep abreast of and be interested in what those in her family were doing in their lives. Aunt Dot was a kind, generous, loving and caring person who made her mark in her day and generation. She truly enjoyed her life and will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Management and Staff of Luxury Estates, Carbonear, for their care and attention to Dorothy for the past 10 years. She is resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Carbonear with visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. Dorothy will be laid to rest in the family plot at Blackhead United Cemetery with her parents. The circle will be complete. Donations in her memory may be made to VOWR Radio, P.O.
