Obituary for
Donald Barry Wieler
The world became a little boring on Monday, January 14, 2019 as we announce with sad hearts the death of Don Wieler. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family who loved him. Loving husband of his little ray of sunshine, Karen (nee Nesbitt). Don will live on forever in the hearts of his children Doug (Rose), Dean and Lisa Stevens (Chris) as well as in the hearts of his grandchildren Madeline, Emily, Jacob Wieler and Vaughan Stevens.
Don was born in Huntsville, Ontario to Mildred (nee McKenzie) and Maurice Wieler. Son-in-law of Lynda and the late Lyle Nesbitt. Loved brother of Jean, Doug (Julie), Robert and was predeceased by John. Loved and missed brother-in-law of Brenda Nesbitt (Joe Mazzarello) and Brian Nesbitt (Amy). Fondly remembered by his nephews Darren, Paul, Jack and Noah. Don also had many friends who will miss his company.
He loved his sports, Sunday football, Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs and in his younger years he was a goalie in minor league hockey. Don had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the piano but his favourite to play was his bass guitar. Don would tell you he never had a job as he was always in sales which he excelled at due to his wit, charm, good judge of character and his gift of gab. Don enjoyed the simple things in life like a good book, a good adult beverage of choice, good Italian food, some good chocolate and a stimulating conversation over his favourite subjects with his wife, family or friends.
At Don’s request no service or visitation will take place instead come and share your memories at a Celebration of His Life to be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at the Bells Corners Legion Branch 593, 4026 Old Richmond Road, Nepean from 2:30pm – 4:30pm.
In memory of Don donations to his favourite charity The Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
Thanks for the memories! Rest in peace. “ Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic”
