1959-2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and devoted husband, Jean-Pierre. He passed peacefully on January 5, 2019 with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kathleen Russell, his sons, Nicolas, Mathieu, and Jean-Philippe, sister Élise, brother Michel, niece Audréanne and nephew Guillaume.
Jean-Pierre was a decorated athlete. He was a member of the National Kayak Team and competed at World Championships, all while studying to become a lawyer. He then went on to have a distinguished career as a Senior Partner at McCarthy Tétrault and spent many years contributing to the leadership of the firm. His great pleasures in life were cycling, skiing, kayaking, golfing, and most importantly, spending time at the chalet with family and friends. He lived each day to the fullest and inspired others to do the same.
The family would wholeheartedly like to thank the staff from the department of Hemo-Oncology at the Jewish General Hospital, particularly Dr. April Shamy, her assistant Donna, pivot nurses Chantal and Line, staff on K-7, and the CLSC Metro.
The celebration of his life will be held on Friday January 11, 2019 at 11am at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V 2P9. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean-Pierre Bertrand to the Jewish General Hospital, Department of Hemo-Oncology would be appreciated.
