April 29, 1929 (Vasey, Ontario) – July 16, 2018 (Ajax, Ontario)
Wyla passed peacefully at Ballycliff Retirement Home. A kind, gentle and loving person, Wyla brought happiness in all its forms (including untold numbers of butter tarts and French Apple pies) to those who were lucky enough to come in contact with her. A farmer’s daughter (John Sterling & Hazel MacDonald), Wyla knew the value of hard work and what was required to provide a loving home. Predeceased by her sister Madieline, devoted wife of 59 years to Graham, who passed in 2012; Loving mother to Sterling (Jacquie Webber) Peggy Luet (Ford) and predeceased by her youngest son Douglas in 2017 (Lori Dunn). Devoted Grandmother to Jessica (Ben Grand) Mason, Taylor (Danielle), Paige Luet, and MacKenzie, Alexander and James Gunn. Wyla is also survived by her sister-in-law Gene Hilts (nee Gunn) and her niece, Heather Rowntree (nee Cox). Wyla was the loving mother bear to anyone who crossed her threshold. The bedrock of the Gunn family, Wyla was the quiet strength that supported the family for so many years. Her and Graham loved to travel and had trips to Turkey, China, Africa, India, Scotland and Russia. She has moved on now and we will always treasure her memory. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, Ontario, 705 326-3595, on Saturday July 21, 2018 from 12:00 PM until time of service in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Reception to follow. Internment Waverley Gospel Hall Cemetery at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society Ontario (alzhiemer.ca) and/or to the Pencer Brain Trust (pencerbraintrust.com).
