Winifred Marianne Ilott 1923 2018

Ilott, Winifred Marianne ( née Potter)
Loving and cherished wife for 72 years of the late Lieutenant-Colonel Eric Ilott (R.C.E.M.E.)
Passed away, peacefully, on June 2, 2018 at Arbour Heights in Kingston, at the age of 95.
Loving Mother of Pam Moore (Jim) and Kathleen Stoneman (Doug) Grandmother of Chris Rodych (Steve), Mike Moore, Rob Moore (Loren) and Marty Stoneman (Lauren). Great-Grandmother of Kevin Rodych, Samantha Rodych (Ryan Dean), Corey Moore (Keshya), Finnegan Eric Moore, Alyssa, Ethan and Zachary Stoneman, Great-Great Grandmother of Vincent Dean. Honorary Mother of Anne Corke (late Gary) and Honorary Great-Grandmother of Ashton Corke. She will be greatly missed by good friends and family.
As a military wife she supported Eric in every way, emigrating from England after World War II when Eric transferred from the British to the Canadian Army. Win was proud of her British heritage but fiercely proud of being a Canadian. Their first posting was Kingston, then Ottawa, Churchill, Winnipeg and back to Ottawa.
After Eric retired he worked for 10 years at Ontario Hydro in Toronto before retiring again to Camden East then back to Kingston.
Win was a superb, classic homemaker with many interests. Win loved annual trips with Eric to all corners of the world, keeping wonderful diaries and scrapbooks while Eric took most of the photos. Volunteering at the Toronto Zoo fulfilled a lifelong dream and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to Kenya on a safari. She loved gardening, tole painting, golf and listening to music. Nature, birding, backroads, the Toronto Blue Jays and CFL games were passions.
Win always saw the bright side, never complained, always listened, and loved people. Keeping in touch at Christmas time with friends and family was vital and treasured.
Win was a resident at Arbour Heights and, true to form, made it her home and cherished all that it offered. The staff became her family while they cared so wonderfully for her for seven years and for Eric for four. Our special thanks for the extraordinary care provided by Doctor Beck, the RNs, RPNs & PSWs – and all staff in the background who provided such a busy, happy, safe, clean, and healthy home for Win. Heartfelt thanks, also, to Kim Pollard, Spiritual Care, Hairstylist Jeanne McFarland-Jukes, Roving Dental Hygienist Cindy McQueen, and caregivers from Stacey Spicer-Hickman’s KDHS.
Cremation has taken place under the care of the James Reid Funeral Home. If you wish, donations in Win’s memory could be made to the Toronto Zoo or a Nature charity of your choice.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Winifred
