Obituary of William Matthews
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of William “Bill” Matthews of Kerwood at Strathroy Middle General Hospital on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018. Bill passed away at the age of 78 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Loving and devoted husband of Marjorie Matthews (nee Joynt) for 56 years. Loving father of Jeff (Lynda) Matthews and Susan Matthews (George Lalich). Cherished papa to Jenna, Katie, Roman, Matthew, Megan, and Emma. Sadly missed by his sister Judy Dale, and brother in law to Jack and Diane Joynt, Dan and Bonnie Joynt, Eleanor and Walter Huber, Pat and Larry Griffith and Carol and Dan Smith. Remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ken (1973) and Muriel (2007) and brother-in-law Bob Dale (2015).
For close to 60 years Ken Matthews Ltd. was a major part of Bill’s life. His favourite past time was being with his friends and family.
Friends will be received on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 5-9 PM at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY (519-245-1023), 32 Metcalfe St West, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 25th at 1 PM with Jennifer Langford officiating. Interment in Strathroy Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations may be made to Strathroy Middle General Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
