STEWART KELLY
William Stewart Kelly, age 95, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2018 at Wildwood Care Centre, St Marys.
Best friend, soul mate and devoted husband to Ruth Kelly for over 72 years. Loving father to Sharon Kelly, Nancy Kelly-McGill, Patricia D’Agostino (Joe) and loving father in law to Jeannie Kelly. Predeceased by his only son, Wayne, in May, 2016. Also predeceased by his brother Cameron Kelly (Myrtle), an infant brother Kenneth, and his parents William and Mabel (Ferguson) Kelly. Loved by six grandchildren (Susan, Sarah, Caleb, Jessica, Elizabeth and Ian), six great grandchildren and by several nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and their families.
He was a gentle man and a gentleman. He says his one regret was that he never pursued a degree in music; to be able to send his three daughters to university was extra special for him. Although he did not attend university he never stopped learning; he was well into his 80’s when he got an iPad, a laptop and cell phone. He loved being a salesman for Confederation Life, he loved cars, he loved music and playing the saxophone and other instruments. Above all else though was the love he had for his wife Ruth. Even in July of 2018 when mom visited him in the hospital he still complimented her on how the colour of her blouse brought out her beautiful blue eyes. We learned from him what love looks like, how it moves and all the shapes it takes.
The service will be held at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal Street, Mitchell on Monday October 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Light refreshments and fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Foundation for Enriching Education, (Attn: Mitchell District High School music program) or to Main Street United Church at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
