It is with broken hearts that Jennie Mary Moon (née Adelia) and Marian Bernice Moon say goodbye to their beloved husband and father, William Lawrence Moon, who suddenly, but peacefully, passed away on 8 October 2018. Born 10 August 1926, Bill was the only son of Alpheus “Alf” Moon of South Fredericksburgh Twp. and his first wife, Lena Bernice Moon (née Lawrence), originally of Sydenham, Ontario, who Bill lost at the tender age of 3. Bill was raised by his father and the best step-mother ever, Lelah Cassie Moon (née DeWolfe), originally of Elgin, Ontario. Deeply missed by his brothers, Edward (Donna née Cameron) of Toledo, Ontario and Douglas (Frances née Bowers) of Barrie, Ontario; as well as his sister-in-law Viola Moon (née Gray) of Kingston, Ontario; and their families. Predeceased by his brother Wesley, formerly of Kingston, Ontario. Missed by his cousins the Spearing, Huffman, and Asselstine families; and, the Lawrence, Lumb, and Vivier families. Left with many fond memories are his sisters- and brother-in-law: Lila Weichel (née Adelia), Ruby Hattum (née Adelia), Mabel Hrycak (née Adelia), and Edna (née Adelia) and Lawrence Warner, all of Saskatchewan, and their respective families spanning the globe. Predeceased by his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Adam Weichel, Ruth Adelia, Alex and Phyllis (née Shaman) Adelia, Sol Hattum, and Harry Hrycak, all of Saskatchewan. The family will receive friends at the HANNAH FUNERAL HOME in Napanee at 123 Dundas Street West (613-354-3341) on Friday evening October 12 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. Interment McDowell Cemetery in Sandhurst. Donations to the Adolphustown U.E.L. Centennial United Church (Dorland) would be gratefully appreciated by the family. Bill was blessed to spend his life in South Fredericksburgh Township surrounded by a large and loving circle of friends and neighbours who were like family and meant the world to him, and still do to Jennie and Marian. He so enjoyed every conversation he had with you regardless of topic reminding all of us that doing so is never time wasted. Of course, sharing “a cup of tea”, his nickname for Canadian whiskey or more recently a beer, with all of you was an added bonus. As we approach the holiday season take the time to enjoy the company of your family and friends, and, perhaps, raise a glass in his honour as you share one more memory of Bill.
