Pettipas, William Michael, age
97, Tracadie. It is with sadness that we, the
family of William Pettipas of Tracadie, announce his passing on Monday
Jan 22, 2018 in Milford Haven Home for Special
Care.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was a son of Michael
Luke and Mary Lucy (Delorey) Pettipas.
Dad was a special dad and « POP » to all his
grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved him dearly and had the
privilege of knowing him and spending time with him even up to the
last couple of days. Willie always enjoyed telling
stories to young and old and was always eager to share his self gained
knowledge. He loved visiting people, talking about cars and
trucks, playing cards, and making a deal.
He is survived by two daughters, Marianne (Gary) McCoul,
Tracadie and Rose O’Connor, Antigonish; son Gerard
Pettipas, Monastery; friend Margie MacPherson, Antigonish;
daughter-in-law Debbie Day, Antigonish; eight grandchildren, Cheryl
(Doug) MacPherson, New Glasgow; Trevor (Krista) McCoul,
Petawawa, ON; Jeff McCoul, Tracadie; Chad (Laurie)
O’Connor, Antigonish; Andrew O’Connor,
Antigonish; Erin (Aaron) Katajamaki, Courtenay,
BC; Leah (Chris) Sorenson, Hinton, AB; Todd Pettipas
(Elizabeth Lambton), Halifax; nine great grandchildren,
Lindsay, Drew and Ewan MacPherson, Haley Cameron, Myla
O’Connor, Connor and Nathan McCoul, Josh and Kelty
Sorenson; sister Charlotte « Girlie » Delorey,
Guysborough; brother Charlie Halloran, Ontario;
brothers-in-law Joe (Margaret) Pettipas,
Westville; Michael (Vera) Pettipas, Thorburn; Billy (Elsie)
Pettipas, Tracadie; sister-in-law Catherin Jean Pitts,
Antigonish.
Predeceased by his wife Margaret E. Pettipas; son-in-law
Joseph O’Connor; sisters-in-law Guastava MacLean, Frances
MacDougall, Jeannie Pitts; brothers-in-law, Don MacLean, Gordon
MacDougall, Vincent Pitts, James Pitts, Charles
Delorey.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1pm to 4pm and 7-9pm
in St. Peter’s Place, Tracadie. Funeral Mass will
be held on Saturday at 11:00am in St. Peter’s Church,
Tracadie, Reverend John Barry presiding.
Burial in the parish cemetery at a later
date.
