It is with great sadness that the family of William “Bill” Osborne McGrath announces his passing which occurred peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice on Friday, October 5th, 2018. Born in Toronto, Ontario on Friday March 13, 1942 to the late Reid and Helen (McCarthy) McGrath.
He is survived by his loving wife Carole (Nelson) McGrath with whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary next May, daughters; Karen and Kelly (Kenny), and grandchildren William, Jessica and Caitlain.
He is also survived by his sisters; Winnie Haines and Anna (Walter) Ellis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Ronald, brothers-in-law Dale Nelson and William Haines.
In his younger years he worked for General Dairies, then he drove for SMT bus line for many years. He then operated his own company, Loch Lomond Bus Line. He was an extremely skilled carpenter who went on to build beautiful homes and did exceptional finish carpentry.
Bill was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in nature. He looked forward to his fishing trips to Quebec and Labrador as well as his numerous adventures with his friends at the Bar-O hunting camp.
He was fun-loving, adventurous and loved spending time at family gatherings and trips with his family. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and the many friends who love him.
Our family would like to offer, a heart felt Thank You, to the staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice, Dr. Keith Wilson and his staff at Harbour Health Partners and all of the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital and Extra Mural Program.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road with visitation on Tuesday October 9, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations to Bobby’s Hospice, SPCA Animal Rescue, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
