William Hanley McCullogh, 91, of Scarborough, Ontario passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Rouge Valley Health Centre, Scarborough.
William was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 25, 1926 the son of late Charles Edward Alexander McCullogh and Irene Louise Shannon McCullogh, brother of his late sisters Elizabeth Julia and Patricia Marian, and father of baby boy Keith.
William is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (nee. Scurr of Moncton, New Brunswick) of 65 years; his sons Richard William, and Peter Edward and daughter-in-law Isabel; his brother James McCullogh of Montreal; and his grandchildren Emily, Eamonn, Gabriel and Jane; and his many nieces and nephews.
He served in the Merchant Navy during the early years of WWII before joining the Canadian army. William was a 40 year employee of Bell Canada. He was an avid sailor as a member of the Oshawa Yacht Club. He loved skiing and traveling. William was an active community member being involved in scouting and coaching minor hockey.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of McDougall & Brown Funeral Home “Scarborough Chapel”, 2900 Kingston Rd (east of St. Clair Ave. E.) on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2 pm with a visitation one hour prior from 1 – 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the service at the funeral home. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
