Obituary for William « Wild Bill » MacLaren
William Gordon MacLaren B.Eng.
November 21, 1924 – March 23, 2018
With great sadness the family of William MacLaren, a.k.a. “Wild Bill”, has said goodbye to this remarkable man.
Poppa passed away after a brief illness early Friday March 23, at Mississauga Trillium Hospital.
Son of Gordon MacLaren and Lillian MacBeth and stepson of Ewart Harman, Bill is at long last reunited with the love of his life, Bettie MacLaren (Scholefield ). Bill and Bettie enjoyed almost 50 years together, and in that time loved their family, travelling and their home in Delray Beach, Florida.
Adored father of Tia and Bruce and amazing grandfather to Darcie (Matt ), Brett, Darryn (Brock ), Britlyn and Braeden, Bill was filled with love for his family.
Bill achieved a notable career in the construction industry, both in Canada and internationally. He was past president of the Toronto Construction Association and an avid long time golf member of the Weston Golf Club.
Bill was an active member for many years of the Mansfield Ski Club as well as Humber Valley United Church and in recent years enjoyed the fellowship of St. Andrews – Chalmers in Uxbridge.
Poppa Bill was an exceptional person with incredible humour, loved by all who knew him and leaves us with countless wonderful memories.
