William Ernest « Bill » Weir
1940-2018
William Ernest « Bill » Weir – age 78, of
Kentville, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Born
in Port Williams, Bill was the son of the late Maurice and Jennie
(Faulkner) Weir. He is survived by his wife Sylvia (Hamm);
daughter Kim (Kevin) Flemming, Bedford; son, Mark (Rebecca) Calgary,
Alberta; his brother, Douglas (Marie), Kentville; grandsons, Owen,
Liam and Jake Flemming and Reece Weir; several nieces, nephews, and
cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth
« Betty » Murphy and Shirley Zwicker. Bill loved
spending time with his family, especially his four grandsons. He had a
love of horses and attended the local exhibitions. Bill was an avid
sports fan and frequented a variety of the local sporting events. He
worked at both the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital and the Valley
Regional Hospital. In his younger years he was a member of the
Coldbrook & District Lions Club; he coached Kentville minor
baseball and was a member of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation
or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at
the Kentville Fire Hall Auditorium from 6:00- 7:30 p.m. on Monday,
December 3, 2018. Special thanks to the doctors,
nurses and staff at the Dialysis clinics in Berwick, the Dickson
Building in Halifax, and Medical A at the Valley Regional Hospital.
Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital
Foundation – Dialysis Unit or the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home in
Kentville.
