Obituary of Wilhelmina Merkelbach
MERKELBACH, Wilhelmina “Wilma” (nee Reinders) – Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s at Fleming on Thursday, October 25, 2018 with her family at her side. Wilma of Ennismore, formerly of Maastricht, Netherlands, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Mathias Merkelbach for 61 years. Loving mother of Alice (Dan Gleeson), Laura (Wray Toms) and Jim Merkelbach (Cathey). Dear grandmother of Bill Toms (Kaitlyn), Troy Toms (Jacquie), MaryAnne (Mike Noffke), Kelly (Trevor Semplonius), Matt Gleeson (Alisha Chambo), Melissa Gleeson, Sarah (Greg Beams), Brittni, Kassandra and Nicholas Merkelbach.
Great grandmother of Elizabeth, Johnny, Sam Noffke and Mark Toms. Daughter of the late Hubertus and Agnes Reinders. Dear sister of Jef & Gerda Reinders, Frans & Ellie Reinders of the Netherlands, Martha & Arno Kaussen of Germany, and the late Hub Reinders (surviving wife Agnes) of the Netherlands. Wilma will be remembered by many other relatives and friends.
A retired self-employed seamstress, Wilma was an avid curler and a long-time member of the Ennismore Curling Club. She also loved the outdoors, gardening, boating, and singing all the songs from ‘The Sound of Music’.
A celebration of Wilma’s life will be held at the Ashburnham Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 840 Armour Road, on Friday, November 2, from 1-3 pm with words of remembrance at 2 pm.
