Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilfred Joseph Foster. Wilfred, a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, died at the age of 91.
Wilfred J. Foster, son of the late Viola Foster (nee Newell) and Wilfred M. Foster was born on December 25th, 1926 in Cochrane Ontario. Wilfred lived a full life. Growing up during the great depression he left school at a young age to help support the family. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and proudly served his country during World War II. He was a devout Christian who at one point pursued becoming a minister. Wilfred later worked as a civil servant in the Ontario Ministry of Transportation until retiring. As a valued member of the community he volunteered with the United Way. He was known by all as a wonderful cook (and eater), having a great sense of humour, an avid gardener, and a true friend. Wilfred had a great reverence for nature and cherished the simple things in life such as the splendor of a warm sunny day.
His life will be remembered by his Wife, Children, Grandchildren, Brother, Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Neighbors. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2019 for close family and friends.
