Wendy Irene Wallace
March 3, 1953-June 30, 2018
It is with profound sorrow that the family announce her passing on June 30, 2018 at age 65 after a heartbreaking and brave effort to overcome cancer. She is survived by her husband and friend of 45 years Neil Hendry and her three children, Clinton Knight Hendry, Travis William Hendry and Alexandra Irene Hendry (Kitchener). Pre-Deceased by her parents Charles and Irene Wallace. Survived by her siblings Norma (Alliston), Trevor (Greely), Judy (Ottawa), and sister and best friend Penny Cook (Doug) of Greely. Pre-deceased by brothers Floyd and Reginald.
Remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, kin, in-laws, out-laws, professional colleagues and friends from everywhere. She will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing her. Wendy was born in Winchester, Ontario. She attended the University of Waterloo (Math). It was there that she and Neil met. They made their home and raised their family in Kitchener. After graduation, Wendy started her career with Dominion Life, later moving to ManuLife. Twenty years ago she went to AIG (Toronto) and finished her career with BMO. She was an accomplished business analyst, admired and respected by her colleagues. She loved the challenge and complexities of her chosen profession and excelled in every step of her career. In March 2017 Wendy took early retirement to explore the world with Neil. In April 2017 she and her family received her diagnosis of cancer. Life got in the way.
Wendy’s family would like to express their profound gratitude to everyone involved in Wendy’s care at the Grand River Hospital and Grand River Cancer Centre. Their care, concern, dedication and unwavering determination to try everything are truly appreciated. As per Wendy’s wishes, memorial service and internment will take place at Spring Hills Cemetery in Vernon, Ontario at a later date.
