Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Wendy Cassady (nee Reid)
March 6, 1950 – May 11, 2018
Wendy Cassady passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2018 with her family at her side.
She was born on March 6, 1950 in Vermillion, Alberta to the late Bill and Irene Reid. She was the youngest of five children. Her elder siblings Garnet, Pearl, Ron, and Judy, all preceded her in death. She moved to Camrose, Alberta as a teenager with her parents, where she met and then married the love of her life, Noel Cassady in 1969. Together they raised three children, Kjeryn, Nola, and Chris, and doted on six beautiful grandchildren.
Wendy lived life to the fullest; she enjoyed the simple pleasures of her hands in the dirt while she gardened, the hum of her sewing machine, the warmth of the sun in Arizona, and watching the loons at the cottage in Saskatchewan. Head always in a book, she was a voracious reader, and she loved chats and good laughs with her family and friends. Her character and temperament can best be shown from her lengthy illness with COPD, which she took on with a quiet strength. Even when the illness slowly took away her ability to do so many of the things she loved, she enjoyed things with help from Noel and together they did their best to live every moment given.
Wendy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Noel and their children: Kjeryn & Kyle Willes, Nola & Ryan McCourt, and Chris & Tara Cassady; as well as their grandchildren – her pride and joy – Brett (Kath), Jaden, Billy, and Abbey Willes, Hazel McCourt, Noel Cassady Jr., and soon to welcome, Lincoln.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dusang for his amazing home visits and compassionate care. Her children would like their Dad to know they are forever grateful to him for exemplifying such tremendous love, care, and dedication: love is patient, love is kind, love never fails.
A Celebration of Wendy’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta.
