It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of our much loved wife, mother and sister on March 23, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney. She was the daughter of Art and Brenda (Barrett) Gillard. Wendy graduated from Donkin – Morien District High School in 1986 and went on to earn her nursing in 1990. She enjoyed her many years in mental health services and worked in various roles in the Sydney Mental Health Clinic, emergency crisis services and as a head nurse of Unit 1D, Rehabilitation Unit.
Wendy loved to cook and bake and was always trying out new recipes. She also enjoyed travelling and had many wonderful trips with family and friends over the years.
Wendy will be sadly missed by her husband David (Mickey) of Port Morien, son Scott (Alicia LaBlanc) and daughter Jenna (Ryne) at home, brother Arthur (Liz), nephew Henry, Sacramento California, sister Jennifer (Michel), nephew Liam, niece Abbey of Arichat. She is also survived by father Art (Barbara) Gillard, mother-in-law Edith MacIntosh, brother-in-law Stephen (Carolyn) MacIntosh and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Wendy was predeceased by her mother Brenda, a sister Carol Jean in infancy, father-in-law Jon MacIntosh and nephew Benjamin.
Visitation will be held at Patten Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 27 from 7 until 9 pm with a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 am also from Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. If desired donations in Wendy’s memory may be made to Mental Health Services, c/o Hospital Charity Foundation Palliative Care Services.
