Wencil V. Simmonds
Simmonds Wencil- 83 of North Preston went home to be with the lord, surrounded by his loving family on April 1st 2018 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born February 20th 1935 in North Preston. He was the son of the late Harold and Olive Simmonds (Downey). Wencil was a member of Saint Thomas Baptist Church and the Men’s Brotherhood, he accepted the Lord at a young age.
Wencil was a self-employed labourer at Preston Housing, a farmer and Gardner for Russel Lapierre, worked for Simmons paving for many years, and he worked as a carpenter (jack of all trades). His hobbies included Gardening, watching Old western movies, playing checkers and watching boxing.
Survived by his wife Genevieve (Smith) Simmonds of 54 years.
Daughters: Sharon (Late Rev Calvin) Symonds, Dartmouth, Olive (Rev Darryl) Gray, Claudette (Gale) Provo, Amanda (Sinclair) Beals all of North Preston, Paula, Toronto and Daughter in Law Kim Cain, Dartmouth.
Sons: Henry, North Preston, Lloyd, Halifax, Derrick, Montreal and Corey, Toronto.
Sisters: Muriel (Ivan) Willis, Linda (Deacon Levi Sr) Smith, Rose (Raymond) Willis, all of North Preston, Marthalene (Gary) Chambers, Toronto.
Brothers: Pastor Galvin (Marney), Gibson Wood, Harold, (Marcella) North Preston, Ross (Ruby), East Preston. Many extended brothers and sisters.
Honoured with 25 grand-children, 29 great grand-children and 1 great grand-child.
Several Nieces and Nephews.
Predeceased by Parents The late Harold and Oliver Simmonds, Sisters Eulah Willis, Margene Fraser, and Alvina Cain.
Visitation will be held Saturday April 7th at Saint Thomas Baptist Church, North Preston at 12pm Funeral service is Saturday April 7th at Saint Thomas Baptist Church, North Preston at 1pm Rev Galvin Simmonds officiating and assisted by Pastor Edward Simmons . Burial will be at Saint Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery, North Preston.
In lieu of Flowers Donations may be made to Saint Thomas Baptist Church, North Preston and the Nova Scotia Cancer Society.
