Our family is saddened to announce the death of our brother Weldon Haslam Vincent on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Queen Elizabeth ll Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia following a battle with Parkinsons. Born at Charlo on November 7, 1939, he was the son of the late John W. and Thelma (Thompson) Vincent.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Joanne Hubert. He is survived by two brothers Graham Vincent of Charlo and Lynn Vincent (Jo-Ann) of Saint John, N.B. and two sisters Donna McEwen of Campbellton and Peggy Arnold (Brian) of Fredericton, N.B. as well as several nieces and nephews.
After graduating high school in 1957, Weldon joined the navy and then transferred to the air force, retiring in November, 1994 after 37 years of service with the rank of Master Warrant Officer CD.
During his years of service he was stationed at several bases in Canada and served overseas in France and Germany. He was also assigned to the HMCS Preserver and was stationed off the coast of Somalia. He also received several recognition awards and medals.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at St Marys Anglican Church, Dalhousie on Saturday, October 6, 2018 followed by a service of Christian burial led by the Rev. Ann Fairweather, rector of the Anglican Parish of Restigouche with times and date to be announced . Internment will be in the New Mills protestant cemetry.
Memorials may be made to Parkinsons or to a charity of the donors’ choice.
