Walter Spoozak
July 30, 1922 – May 24, 2018
It is with heavy hearts the family of Walter Spoozak announces his sudden passing at Princess Court at the age of 95 years.
Walter is survived by his sons: Norman (Anne), Arnold (Natalie) and Vern (Heather), daughter-in-law Valerie, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his brother Mike (Vicki), sister-in-law Isabelle as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by his wife Clara, son Roland, his parents and brothers Jim and Arnold.
Walter grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan until he left to serve his country at home and abroad. After the war he rode the Canadian railway system with exuberance and on one such trip heard they were hiring at the mill in Dryden. Walter returned to Saskatchewan to marry his life partner Clara Kohuch and returned to Dryden to start a family. Walter retired in 1984 and spent many summers camping at Godson Lake and Bear Narrows.
Walter loved to spend time with his family and if he had his way they would be fishing as nothing thrilled him more than to see what was at the end of his rod or coming through the ice. His best stories were always about the big one that got away.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of Walter’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers if friends desire donations may be made the DRHC CT Scan Fund through Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1.
