Walter F. Chernoff passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in Prince Albert, SK on Wednesday April 25th, 2018. Walter was born July 17, 1930 at the family farm in the Trinity District near Blaine Lake, SK. Walter had a wonderful teaching career of 35 years, teaching Math, Chemistry and later Guidance Counselling, Special Education and Assessments. In retirement, he and Helen enjoyed winters in Hawaii and Arizona, spending their summers at the Candle Lake cabin, fishing and enjoying time spent there with friends and family. Walter is survived by his loving wife Helen of 64 years; his daughters Ellen (Wayne) Montour; Brenda (Don) Evans; grandchildren Tom (Heather) Evans, Laurel Evans (Jody); great granddaughter Everly and great grandson Mason; sister Mae (John) Popoff; sister-in-law Irene Chernoff; brother-in-law Peter (Rosemary) Tarasoff; nieces nephews, family and dear friends. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Lucy and Fred Chernoff; brother Peter Chernoff; mother and father-in-law Mary and Nick Tarasoff. Walter’s family would like to thank the Victoria Hospital and Herb Bassett Home staff for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Walter’s memory can be made to the Herb Bassett Home 1220-25th Street West or Calvary United Church 114-25th Street East. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday April 30th at Calvary United Church 114-25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Rev. Nora Vedress officiating. Please join the family for refreshments after the service. A private interment will be held at the South Hill Cemetery.
