Obituary of Vernon Davison
Vernon Emerson Davison, 94 of Port Williams passed away on February 24, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Port Williams, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Coldwell) Davison, Wallbrook. He was a member of the Wallbrook Church.
At a young age, Vernon spent three years in the army, where he was trained to be a mechanic, working on various vehicles to be used in the war overseas. He excelled at his trade and these skills carried him through the rest of his working career. For the last twelve years before retirement in 1988, he worked for the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board as a bus driver, mechanic and shop foreman. This was a job he enjoyed very much and made many life-long friendships.
He was a quiet and reserved man by nature who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends and family, sharing stories of days gone by. At the end of a visit, he was often heard saying, « You don’t have to rush away! »
Vernon and his beloved Madge, enjoyed travelling, camping and Bluegrass music. It was always a thrill for him to study his map and plan his next trip and a new adventure. He was a kind, caring and devoted husband, father and friend, he will be missed. « Wish you didn’t have to rush away, Dad, you will be forever in our hearts, until we meet again. »
He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 70 years, the former Madeline (Madge) Hutchinson; sons Garth (Pat) of Beverly Beach, Florida; Terry (Fran) of Enfield; Glen of Port Williams; Roger (Jackie) of Cambridge and daughter Jeannie of Avonport. He was a proud granddad to Kim, Cindy, Trisha, Scott, Crystal, Jonathan, Jennifer, Brad and Matthew as well as many great grandchildren. He also had a large extended family.
He was predeceased by grandson Jonathan Davison, daughter-in-law Ruth Davison and son-in-law Fred MacIntosh.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on March 1, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in Vernon’s memory may be made to the Wallbrook Church or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656).
