Verna M. Fletcher

Verna Marie Fletcher, 93 of Hantsport, Hants County passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on March 20, 1925 in Sweets Corner, Hants County she was the daughter of Murray and Aileen (Smith) Cochran.
Verna attended the Sweets Corner School and the Windsor Academy High School. As a young woman she worked for a time at Simpson Sears in Halifax during World War 2. After the war she married Reid Fletcher and resided in Hantsport for seventy one years. Verna was a loyal member and supporter of St. James United Church (Avon United Church) Hantsport. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and walking.
Surviving are her daughters; Wendy (Robert) Hazel, Martins River; Barbara (Roy) Ewart, St. Thomas, Ontario; Margaret (Laurie) Johnston, Hantsport; Anna Marsters, Kentville; Mary Lou (Graham) Lake, Newport Station; Jeanne Fletcher (Sarah), Hantsport; sons; William “Bill” (Star), Mount Denson; Reid (Julie) Fletcher, Hantsport; Thomas , Hantsport; Allan (Diana), Kentville; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; sisters; Eleanor Caldwell, Hantsport; Marion McKenzie, B.C., brother, Graham (Sally) Cochran; many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband, Reid Ralston Fletcher, sisters, Margaret Cochran, Beulah (Roley) Phillips, Norma Tracey; brother, Brian Spence.
Verna’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Windsor Elms for the loving care they gave to Verna.
Visitation will be from 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 221, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
A private family graveside service will be held in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
