Verna Lena Merlo (nee Secco)
Verna was born in Trail, BC and passed away peacefully at Rosewood Village on August 16, 2018. Verna suffered from Alzheimer’s which began in the mid 1990’s.
She was predeceased by her parents Pete and Sue (Piscatelli) Secco, her husband Tony, and her brothers Ernie, Louis, and Geno.
Verna is survived by her children Norman (Bonnie) of Smithers and Joanne (Alvin) Caron, her brother Primo (Pat) and her sister in law Barb, grandchildren Theresa, Karen, John, Jennifer, Chris, Tyler, and twelve greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Secco, Merlo, Caputo, and Schulli families.
Family was important to Verna. She was happiest spending time with them or enjoying the private oasis of her home.
Cremation has taken place; funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, September 14, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in East Trail. Father Francis dela Cruz will be celebrating mass. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who tended to Verna over the past 15 years.
