Verna Gertrude McDowell
1925-2018
In appreciation of a life well-lived the family of Verna
Gertrude (Sullivan) McDowell, wife of the late Ernie M. McDowell,
announce her passing at Loch Lomond Villa on January 13, 2018. Born in
Four Falls, NB on November 30, 1925 she was a daughter of the late
Stephen and Lillian (Hawkins) Sullivan.
Verna briefly served in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces as a
Private in the QM Stores and later volunteered with fund raising for
the Pennfield Fire Department. She liked gardening, was an avid bingo
player, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved the outdoors
and enjoyed a 6 AM walk every morning until her health no longer
permitted it.
Verna will be deeply missed by her children: Kenneth (Judith)
McDowell, Gregory (Patricia) McDowell and Susan (Ben) Sharpe;
grandchildren: Michael, Lindsay, Christopher, Jeffery, Kalita, Kyle,
Kaitlyn and Krista; great grandson Aiden; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased
by her sisters: Irene Hartt, Ruth Barlow and Joan Sullivan; and
brothers: Clayton, Gerald, Floyd, Robert and Lawrence.
Verna’s family would like to extend sincere thanks
and gratitude to the staff and residents of the Loch Lomond Villa and
Chateau de Champlain for all the love, care and friendship shown to
Verna over the years. Your kindness and compassion will never be
forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of
