Obituary Overview
In loving memory
Valentina Vittoria Venturini was born on February 9, 1930 in San Pietro del Natizone (Italy) to Angela Maria Scriquaro and Eligio Venturini. She breathed her last breath at the age of 88 years old at 4:40 p.m. on October 8, 2018 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario.
Shortly after she immigrated to Canada on April 16, 1954 she met Mario Cecchetto. She called it love at first sight and they were married on their seventh encounter and remained together until his passing in 2013.
They raised two boys; Roger Cecchetto who is married to Lisa and Dino Cecchetto married to Terry. Valentina, who was referred to as Tina, if not mom, was fiercely proud and cherished her six grand children; Lauren, Ashley, Daniel, Kirsten, Devin Valentina and Michael.
Other than being a devoted mother and loving wife, she was never prouder then when she obtained her Canadian Citizenship on July 2, 1974.
She lived long enough to have shared her time on this earth with 3 great grand children who were all born in the past few months; Rocco Pereira (son of Ashley and John), Daisy Gershon (daughter of Lauren and Gil) and Hunter Valentina Cecchetto (daughter of Daniel and Andie).
As a stay at home mother, Tina devoted her life and love for family. She was a supportive friend to many and a generous care giver to those who required consoling and assistance. Her faith gave her strength and conviction which allowed her to live a life of integrity.
Tina will always be remembered as an outstanding cook. Her philosophical views on life and ability to laugh were threaded through the many stories she shared. She was known, even with her disease, to belt out beautiful melodies in languages of English, Italian and Yugoslavian. At weddings and parties, Tina and Mario had the magical ability to clear dance floors with the Tango, Waltz or Chachacha.
In the last decade of her life she fought and, in the end, succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer’s. Over the past 9 years she was lovingly cared for by the employees of Burloak Long Term Care.
She is affectionately loved, fondly remembered and respectfully appreciated by family and friends.
The family requests that any donations made can serve the Alzheimer Society.
Her ashes, along with those of Mario will be Interned at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery in Oakville.
