Tracy May Dawn Shawana
“Epingishmag-Emooksa-Anongook”
43 years
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family
at her mom’s in Toronto on Thursday, July 5th, 2018.
Beloved daughter of Joanna Shawana and Kenneth Toulouse. Loving mother of Keegan and Aadehwiin-Nimkii Shawana and “special mother’’ of Cody Costa. Grandmother of Amara Lascelles. Dear sister of Willis and Joni (Lori Lemaigre) Shawana and Jamie and Nadine Oshkabewisens. Special Auntie of Migize Mack-Shawana. Predeceased by her grandparents Nelson Jawana, Rebecca Trudeau-Roy (nee Shawana), Victor and Rose Toulouse (nee Trudeau). She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends (especially Tina, Belinda, Jessica and Liberty). God daughter of Leonard Simon and Valerie Enosse and God mother of Kaitlyn Simon.
Tracy loved her children and was really proud of her boys. She was a proud Anishnaabe Kwe, who blended with the Rastafarian culture. She loved Rasta Roots reggae. She always had candles lit and loved burning incense. She was very artistic and enjoyed making crafts and often designed her own clothing. She produced a traditional hand drumming CD titled “Ode Min Kwe Singers”. She was very proud to have been a part of the documentary “RasTa: A Soul’s Journey” directed by Bob Marley’s granddaughter Donisha.
Resting at St. Ignatius Church in Buzwah, Saturday, July 7th, 2018 after 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, July 9th, 2018 at 11am at Holy Cross Church in Wiikwemkoong with interment in the Upper Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
