Obituary for Tom Vigneux
Thomas “Tom” Raymond Vigneux
The world has lost a good man. On the evening of Thursday March 15, 2018, Thomas (Tom) Raymond Vigneux passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side. Tom was a fighter and never gave up but after a courageous 9-year battle with cancer, we lost a husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, brother, and grandfather… we have lost a friend. Tom was born and grew up in Toronto attending Earl Haig Secondary School where he met Sue, his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 46 years. Having just celebrated his 69th birthday, Tom is also survived by his daughters Nicole (Larry) and Jen, sisters Joanne (John) and Jane, and his brother Bob. “G” or “G-Man” will be dearly missed by his grandsons Owen and Ben and his granddaughters Cassidy and Ava, his extended family, his friends, and everyone he touched. Tom was happiest when he was surrounded by family whether it be at a Monday night dinner, a hockey arena, a walk in the park with the dogs, or splashing in the pool with a water gun (or hose) in hand ready for a serious water fight. When it came to sports Tom had a lifelong passion for Hockey, Fishing, Car Racing, and of course golf to name a few. Like everything he did, he shared his passion for sport with others and especially his grandkids. From teaching them to skate or how to angle out a rushing forward, to baiting a hook or casting, to the driving range or practice putting green, he would always make time to share his passion and help make them better. Golf was central to Tom’s life bringing countless memories including trips with friends and family, being a big part of the York Downs community, and ultimately bringing him to Florida and the Heritage Oaks community. And of course the Steak Pit. Tom was the Steak Pit for over fifty years making his mark on the community, Toronto, and people across the country. With guests that ranged from movie starts, famous athletes, politicians and most importantly the Toronto families who returned for generations. Tom made an impact. Tom will never be forgotten.
