Obituary for
Thora Amanda Dougherty (Schlieske)
Suddenly at home, with family at her side, on Friday, April 6th, at age 94. Loving wife of the late Hubert Dougherty. Dear mother of Shannon Eldridge (Cyril) and Tracey Poupore (Lennis). Proud grandmother of Calan Eldridge (girlfriend Lindsay Wilson) and Keri and Kaitlyn Poupore. Will also be missed by step-grandchildren Jennifer Wright (Devon) and Lisa Eldridge (fiancé Ricardo Vasquez). Predeceased by brothers Edgar and Emerson Schlieske (the late Mary). Mom was an accomplished seamstress, making all her own clothes as a young woman and then sewing for her young daughters. She proudly resumed this hobby by sewing, smocking, knitting and quilting when her grandchildren arrived. Grandma was also an avid sports fan, always cheering on the Senators, Blue Jays and Canadian teams in world events. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. For those who wish, a donation to one of mom’s four favourite charities would be appreciated by the family: the Food Bank, the Shepherds of Good Hope, the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
