Age 94, passed away in his home in Port Stalashen, with his loving wife and two of his sons by his side on Saturday, April 28, 2018, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Tom was predeceased by his mother, Agnes Emily; father, William; and brothers Richard and Alan.
He is survived, and will be dearly missed, by his loving, caring wife of 67 years, Dorothy Ellen and their children; Linda (Lee), Alan (Kathleen), Emily (Gerry), Iain (Carole) and Neil (Maria).
Tom also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Born in New Castle Upon Tyne, England. He started working in the shipyards as an Electrical Apprentice and ended as a Draftsman. Tom moved to Peterborough, Ontario in the mid 1940’s, working for GE as a Draftsman. He met his love and married her in 1951. After having five children they began their long track to BC in 1964 where he worked for H.A. Symons in Vancouver. Then moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1969, he worked for Canfor as a Project Engineer at Port Mellon, until his retirement. He continued to pursue his passion for art and painting full-time until his passing.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassion shown by the homecare staff, and a special thank you to Dr. Daren Spithoff.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Tom’s memory.
A Celebration of Life to be held at Eric Cardinall Hall, 930 Chamberlin Road, Saturday, June 23 at 1pm.
