It is with profound sadness that the family of Thomas Gerald Mason announce his peaceful passing on December 15, 2018 at the age of 74 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Helen; sons, Darrel (Karen), and Gregg; daughters, Melanie (Jay) and Rhonda; grandchildren, Craig (Kiana), Hannah, Jamie, Emily, and Cameron; sister, Patricia (Leroy); brothers, Terry (Barb) and Clint (Gloria); as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Eileen Mason; brother-in-law, Eugene Kimbley.
Tom was born in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm which he loved before embarking on his career with the Bank of Nova Scotia which spanned 41 years. This career saw Tom move to many cities and towns throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta, before his retirement to Morinville in 2002. Along the way he met and married the love of his life, Helen in 1966 and raised four children. A highlight of Tom and Helen’s life was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016. Tom loved spending time with family, camping, fishing, golfing, travelling, and barbecuing. He was a wonderful father and husband, and his family was the most important part of his life. He especially enjoyed being a grandfather to his five grandchildren and an uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral service will take place on Friday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Albert Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, with a luncheon and celebration of life to follow at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Tom’s name at the St. Albert Food Bank, 50 Bellerose Drive, St. Albert, Alberta, T8N 5C9.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Foyer Lacombe Hospice. Your caring and support for Dad will always be remembered.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Thomas Mason of St. Albert
