It is with deep sadness that the family of Thomas Gordon announce his passing on April 25, 2018 at the Drayton Valley Hospital, at the age of 96 years, 2 days short of his 97th birthday. Thomas was born in Douglaston, Saskatchewan to James and Rebecca Gordon on April 27, 1921. On December 9, 1941 Thomas joined the Canadian Army, he served in England, Sicily, France and in 1945 joined the rest of the Canadian Army in Holland for the final battles of the war. He was returned home in October 1945, and discharged in November. Thomas and his family have remained residents of Drayton Valley since 1967.
Thomas will be forever loved and dearly missed by his children, Kathy (Kevin), Marilyn, Blair (Brenda); 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie and Dorothy, as well as by nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends made along the years. Thomas was predeceased by his parents, James and Rebecca Gordon; his loving wife, Elva; 5 brothers and 6 sisters. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital for the care and compassion provided to Thomas. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. For those who so desire, memorial donations in Thomas’s name may be made directly to the Poppy Fund – The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #269, 5204 – 51 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta T7A 1S2.
