Thomas Colville Gibson, aged 88, passed peacefully due to Parkinson's on July7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, care givers and community at Kennsington Gardens Nursing Home in Toronto, Ontario
Thomas was born in Altrincham, Great Britain, by Herbert Gibson and Jean Lindsay Dakers Gordon Gibson
After high school Tom had a year of teachers college and began his teaching career in a one room school house. Later through various schools, one of the most memorable being Elia Jr High, he met several lifetime friends and colleagues.
Tom and his family lived in Aurora ON, for several years, adding to a list of life long friends, through renown block parties. Later they moved to Georgetown ON where he became principal of various elementary schools in Halton County amassing more friends . He retired at the age of 55, attaining the golden 90, age plus years of service. After retirement Tom renewed a lifetime passion for photography that lasted mostly the rest of his life.
Tom was totally dedicated to his wife of over 60 years, Ruth Evangeline Gibson, formerly Green, an artist in her own right. Tom and Ruth toured around the world taking photos that often Ruth would paint. They held several exhibits together and gathered yet more long term friends. Ruth passed 3 years ago
Tom is survived by his four sons and their partners Jim ( Mel ), Brian ( Danny), Don (Nancy), Mike and grand children Jason, Tommy, Adrienne, Ashley, Nathan, Hannah, Jeff, Kelley and 9 great grand children.
Memorial Service
A memorial service, celebration of Toms life will be held on July 27, 2018 at 1 pm. at The Church of the Transfiguration, 111 Manor Rd. E. Toronto, ON, where Tom and Ruth met in the church choir and were wed. A short reception to follow
