Terrance (Terry) Gordon Wichman
Wichman, Terry
born August 3, 1943, died peacefully in Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, December 26th, 2018, after battling cancer. Dearly loved husband of Lois for 49 years, father of David and Leigh Ann (deceased in 2014), father-in-law of Jeanette Williamson, brother of Linda Diener, brother-in-law of Steve Diener, uncle to Anton and Lara, and grand-uncle to Naveen, Meera, Katarina, and Natasha. Born and raised in London, Ontario, Terry became a chartered accountant in his early 20s. His career was spent with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand, and prior to that, McDonald, Currie) in London, Toronto, Halifax, and Kitchener-Waterloo. After retiring in 2006, he became a consultant with BDO Canada. Terry set a lifelong example of balancing his passion for work with his devotion to family. His hours at the office are matched by countless family activities, conversations around the dinner table, joyful summers by the lake, and Christmases full of laughter. Not one for sentiment, Terry would nevertheless be there for family and friends in their hour of need, taking care of business with stoic calm. The same intelligence, curiosity, patience, and wit that made him such an effective problem-solver were also present in his other passions. He loved golf, mysteries, the Blue Jays, and theatre. He was also a fan of fine dining and a wine connoisseur. We raise a glass to his life richly lived, even as we wonder how we will carry on without him. Based on his example, we know we will find a way. Terry’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday January 3, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
