It is with extreme heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister, auntie, daughter and friend, Tanya Dawn Turning Robe. Tanya passed away on the morning of December 5, 2018. Tanya (China Doll) was raised by her grandparents Frank & Rosa Turning Robe and her mother Geraldine Turning Robe. Tanya had a tremendous love for the Oilers which she made very evident. A very proud auntie she always made sure her she let her nieces and nephews know how much she loved them, always known to tell them “I love you” Music was her passion. Many of her pass times were spent just writing and listening to her music lost in her own thoughts. She enjoyed her childhood while attending Crowfoot school where she made many friends whom she was still in contact with at the time of her passing. There were many milestones throughout her life in which she accomplished. One in particular was her cursillo in 2005 with the theme song “Here I Am Lord”; she was also employed at the Siksika Daycare where some parents would request her by name to tend to their children. A loner by nature, she always kept many a friendship everywhere she went. A heart so full and quick to give so much love and laughter. We are all going to miss her dearly.
Tanya leaves behind to mourn special nephews Matthias Healy and Joshua Healy. Sisters; Melanie (Cody) Turning Robe, Carolyn (Tennie) Turning Robe, Yvette Turning Robe, Carmen (Harley) Turning Robe, Chalise Scalplock, and Rose (Mouse) Turning Robe. Brothers Clinton Turning Robe, Dallon (Edeena) Scalplock, Frank (Tessa) Turning Robe and Alden (Nicki) Big Old Man. Dad Irvine (Sandy) Scalplock, step dad Stanley Water Chief, step mom Esther Healy, and auntie/mom Stella Turning Robe. As well as numerous nieces and nephews too many to mention as well as aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Tanya was predeceased by her grandparents Rosa Turning Robe (1990), Frank Turning Robe Sr (2005), mother Geraldine Turning Robe (2012) and sister Charmayne Scalplock (2018)
Tanya had many relatives from the Turning Robe, Mayfield, Scalplock, Many Guns, Yellow Old Woman, Axe, Raw Eater, and Winnipeg families. The family apologizes for anyone we may have missed.
Wake services will be held on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at the residence of Stanley Water Chief for family from 4pm to 6pm for family and at 6pm at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbor on Siksika nation. Funeral services to be held on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 1pm. Gravesite to follow at Canon Stockton cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone who was a part of Tanya`s life and those joining the celebration of her life are encouraged to wear anything “Oilers” to the funeral.
