On June 2, 2018, Tamara Eva (Tam) Carpenter did not go gently into that good night: She fought every step of the way, and kept her love of life and sense of humour to the end. She was a beloved aunt, niece, friend, and colleague, the best big sister ever, and probably Mom and Dad’s favourite, mainly because she rarely got caught. She was irreverent, smart, funny, beautiful, and a champion for the rights of women, the mentally ill, and the socially disadvantaged. As per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite people to say their goodbyes at Carnell’s Funeral Home on June 8 and 9, 2018, and/or have a drink in her memory at the Ship Inn, on a date to be announced.
She received many flowers and gifts during her illness, so, if you wish to honour her memory, please donate in her name to Stella’s Circle or the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre … or maybe drop off a tray of sandwiches or treats to the nurses and LPNs at a hospital in your community, because those people are truly amazing.
Heartfelt thanks, gratitude and love to “Tam’s Squad,” our family, our friends, the friends who have become family, the staff of St. Clare’s, HSC and the Cancer Care Clinic, and, last but not least, the angels who work and volunteer at the Palliative Care Unit. You are living proof that not all superheroes wear capes.
Tam, you’ll always be the pretty one. You are deeply missed.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday, June 11th and Saturday, June 12th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
