Obituary for Steve Pich
On January 3, 2018, Steve Pich passed away at Capital Care Lynnwood in Edmonton at the age of 74 years after a long struggle with Parkinson’s and dementia. Steve is the youngest of ten children born to Dmytro (Dan) and Sophie Pich of Thorhild, Alberta. He was educated at Thorhild, Bonnie Doon High School in Edmonton, and the University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor of Education degree. He taught in Edmonton Public Schools and finalized his working career with Edmonton Parks and Recreation. He was a sports fan, an avid golfer and a keen billiard player. He enjoyed family gatherings, always sharing his sense of humour.
Steve is survived by his sisters, Mary Friede of Westlock, Vera Friske of Stony Plain, and Pauline Romero of Glendale, California; his brother, Michael (Kathleen) Pich of St. Albert, sister-in-law, Vivian Pich of Edmonton; and many nieces, nephews and their spouses and families. Predeceased by his parents; his siblings, George, Olga, Stephanie and Anne Pich and Julia Plupek.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Dr. J. Henderson and the staff at Lynnwood for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Reception Centre, 11015 – 101 Street. Cremation has taken place and an inurnment will take place in Beechmount Cemetery at a later date.
